Our prayer garden covers over an acre, with over 750 memorial bricks, several stone memorial benches and 1000 plants that were donated by parishioners, was dedicated in June of 2006, the 10th anniversary of St. Michael's Parish.
In May of 2008 a tornado touched down at St. Michael's and did some creative landscaping to the Prayer Garden and surrounding woods on the church property. As summer began, the Prayer Garden began to flourish again and all the leaves that had been stripped bare from the trees reappeared. The Prayer Garden is now even more beautiful.
A stature of St. Francis was added to the Garden in memory of Colin Brennan, a teen who was killed in an automobile accident. Also donated to the Prayer Garden was a statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe and a stone grotto was built to house Our Lady. A crucifix was donated by St. Michael's quilters in 2010 and was placed behind the stone altar. An Eagle Scout from St. Michael's built two arbors for the Prayer Garden, one at the paved entrance to the Garden and one at the entrance to the Memorial Brick pathway leading to the Altar.
The Prayer Garden is a wonderful place to walk or sit and spend some time with the Lord.
Twice a year in the spring and fall we have a parish work day. As part of the work we spread mulch and pull weeds in the Garden. We always need gardeners and you are welcome to come and help keep our Prayer Garden beautiful.
